 Phu Quoc City, Vietnam

Aerial views of Phu Quoc City

Phu Quoc is a wonderful place with a beautiful tsunami-safe beach, unlike in Thailand Phuket and adjacent ones or those of Indonesia... The worst tsunami that hit Phuket of Thailand in 2004 killed hundreds of thousands of people including tourists from Northern Europe, and you will never hear of a tsunami hitting Phu Quoc due to its unique location.

Because of ongoing developments as carefully planned with consideration of environment preservation and sustainability, Phu Quoc Island has become another major city, Phu Quoc City.

Some of the following are major projects in Phu Quoc City - with an initial total investment of 16.5 billion USD. This is huge considering an area that is not big.

In the Northern part of Phu Quoc, the Megaproject number one is the GrandWorld of VinGroup - consisting of shopping areas, entertainment, and hotels.

The second Megaproject is VinWonders - the largest theme park of VinGroup in Phu Quoc.

The third Megaproject is VinPearl Safari of Phu Quoc - an 800 acres zoo consisting of over 150 species of animals roaming around.

The Fourth Megaproject is The VinPearl Bai Vong Phu Quoc, and its architecture adopts Dubai's Palm configuration idea. It is approximately a 1,300 billion VND project.

The fifth megaproject on the list would be the Marriage Proposal Bridge

Bai Xep, Ghenh Rang - Quy Nhon, Vietnam.

Bai Xep Beach is located in Ghenh Rang Commune of Quy Nhon. The beach is pristine and not crowded. If you travel to this area, Homestay Haven Vietnam is a nice place to stay over.

While staying at Haven Vietnam, I noticed foreign local tourists who have been living in the area for a while collecting trash and litter along the beach of Bai Xep.

Caring and concerned foreign residents help collect trash and litter along the beach

In the courtyard of the Homestay Haven Vietnam facing the beach, I saw the sign read "Help us keep the beach clean - 1 bag of trash for 1 free local beer". This is one of the smart efforts of business people to contribute to area conservation and natural beauty. I hope many places along the coast adopt this type of program or action.

Binh Duong Province, Southeast Region - Vietnam

Binh Duong Province borders Ho Chi Minh City, and people from this crowded city often visit Binh Duong on weekends to escape the heat and relax after days of work. It is known as a place for entertainment, charming scenery, and historical monuments - not just a place for newly developed and modernized industrial zones.

Binh Duong New City Park, built according to Singapore standards, is not only a city air filter with abundant trees but also an entertainment and picnic place with beautiful sceneries. At this new city park with an area of 70 hectares, families can rent roller skates or miniaturized vehicles like cyclo, jeep, or car for their children to play. They can bring in their homemade kites to fly here in this spacious open-air park. There is a designated area selling food and refreshment in the park.

Dai Nam Tourism area is divided into 6 areas: Worship area, Racing track area, Game area, Man-made Sea area, Zoo area, and Restaurant area. Its basic entrance fee is 300,000 VND (13 USD). It is a big area, and you can catch a ride from scheduled electric vehicles inside the vicinity.

Dai Nam Tourism area can easily take you a day or two to visit its six areas. Let's check out the Manmade Sea area where parents can watch their kids playing in the water or play together with them.

Tuong Binh Hiep Lacquer Village is located in Tuong Binh Hiep Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province, with a history dating back to the late 18th century.

This is one of the traditional craft villages in Vietnam, famous throughout the country and considered the cradle of Binh Duong lacquerware.

Tuong Binh Hiep lacquer village has about 300 production facilities with nearly 1000 employees.

Those who are looking for a place that is peaceful enough to escape the hustle and bustle of life in the bustling city of Saigon or simply want to find a place to organize a short picnic for family or friends.  The Thuy Chau eco-tourism area is a highly recommended destination.

Only 20km from the center of Saigon, the Thuy Chau tourist area is a great place for fun, cheap food, and many young Saigonese love it a lot.

Quang Ngai Province, South Central Region - Vietnam

Quang Ngai is not an unfamiliar name on the tourist map of Vietnam. However, it has still retained its charms and original wild beauty up to this day. Quang Ngai coastal province offers locations where tourists can dive and do snorkeling, kayaking along the shore, or walk along its stretched beautiful coastline to view the beautiful sunset. Let's check out some of Quang Ngai's famous destinations.

[Family camping out on My Khe Beach, playing soccer and flying home-made kites]

My Khe Beach, 15 km from Quang Ngai City, is not the same as the My Khe of Danang City. This beach is undeveloped and has no public facilities. This beach fits your need if you or your family want to camp out, swim, and relax. While you are setting up a tent for your family, your kids can fly their homemade kites on the beach. My Khe beach is about 1 km long with a soft light beige sand. There is a nice My Khe Hotel nearby if your family wants to check in instead of camping out in a tent overnight.

A trip to Ly Son Island afterward is convenient. You can take a public bus to go to Sa Ky Port for Ly Son Island visit. This island is full of sun and wind - known to be more beautiful than Phu Quoc by some people. The island - used to be called Cu Lao Re, an inactive volcano crater - is known for its garlic cultivation and export. This makes sense since the volcanic soil is rich in sulfur compounds.

Sa Huynh Beach of Quang Ngai is a beautiful beach - heaven in the midst of harsh nature. The sand here is not white but yellowish - iridescent under the sun. This beach has been a tourist attraction spot. Seagulls and other birds as a backdrop of its wild nature make the beach more unique in its own way.

Minh Long White Waterfall is about 45m high, forming white foam as its water pouring down. It is a spectacular scene to watch, making you feel fresh and cool. It is located in Lang Do village, Thanh An commune, Minh Long district, Quang Ngai province. You will be amazed at the natural beauty of this waterfall.

Long Mon Pass is located in Thanh An commune, Minh Long district, Quang Ngai province. Driving or motorcycling on this pass, you will admire the majestic scenery like being lost in the Northwest. From here, you can view down the scene below.  Everything is breathtakingly beautiful - all-around scenes. It is definitely a "WOW" factor experience.

About Me

My photo
As a Vietnamese American - graduated from college here in the US, I want to spend some time in Vietnam - a country I left when I was very young. Because of the war, I did not have any opportunity to travel much in Vietnam, except Saigon and Vung Tau back and forth during those years. Now is the time for me to learn more about my mother's country to appreciate its beauty, art, and culture.
